Colon Cleanse

Colon Cleanse

Is cleansing your colon really necessary?

Toxins invade the body through processed foods, chemicals, and environmental sources. Much of your bodies' toxins are eliminated by passing through your colon. When your colon becomes clogged or slows down, there's a good chance those toxins become reabsorbed into your bloodstream. Those toxins then invade your tissues and cells.

If you're currently on a regular diet that's rich in fruits, vegetables, grains, and water, you probably have few, if any elimination problems. (Though some medications can cause constipation.) But if your main diet consists of processed foods and very little raw fruits and vegetables, chances are your bowel movements aren't as regular as you would like. Years of processed foods/toxins can accumulate in your colon. A safe, healthy colon cleanse is a first step at eliminating the build up of waste in your colon. Use a safe, natural way to cleanse your colon.

Are You Constipated?

For some people, constipation means infrequent bowel movements, for others, constipation means hard stools or difficulty passing stools. The number of bowel movements varies among people. Between 3 and 21(one after each meal) bowel movements a week is considered normal. If you experience less than one bowel movement a week, you are considered severely constipated.

Your colon is approximately 5-5 1/2 feet in length with a diameter of appoximately 2 1/2 inches. It is made up of the large intestine, rectum and anus. It is a muscular tube that functions to eliminate food and bodily waste. Along with your kidneys, lungs, and skin, your colon is designed to get rid of toxins in the intestines, lymph systems, and blood.

The waste materials in your colon are moved along by muscular action initiated by the nerve supply to the colon.

A function of the colon is to absorb water and minerals, and form and eliminate feces. The colon contains healthy bacteria to aid digestion, maintain pH balance, and prevent the rapid and excessive growth of unhealthy bacteria.

The digestive process usually takes 12-24 hours with a healthy colon. Stool should be long and large in diameter, and light brown in color.
